Sorry everyone, my summer was quite crazy. Now, I have started school again so I have just been very busy. Maddi and Hunter have just been lounging around the house mostly. Although, we do try to get out for walks when we can. We also acquired a new little sister. She is not a corgi though and Maddi and Hunter don't like her all that much. I haven't taken her out to any events yet either because I am not sure if she has worms still or not. Also, somewhere along the lines Hunter discovered the kitty litter box so now I need to get a piece of plexiglass and put it in the area where the box is. Oh the joys of being a puppy mom. :)
On some sad news, one of my childhood dogs died this morning. I am pretty heart broken but I am glad he is no longer in pain or suffering anymore.
Another crazy corgi lover

June Corgi Meetup
Today was the June corgi meetup. As always, it was loads of fun. My dogs have a blast and wear themselves out. I loved all the water toys today even though most of the dogs didn't. There was a really good turn out today. Lots of corgis and their lovers. My dogs pretty much spent the remainder of the day passed out and snoring which is great because I had over 500 pictures to go through from the meetup. I only post the good ones though. We had a good time seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Thanks to our organizer for another good meetup!!!

Hunter
Today has been off to a slow start. I am stuck at home waiting for an item to arrive via UPS. We went outside to take a potty break and there are bunch of people hanging outside another neighbor's house. I know that Maddi is an instant hit with people as she loves people. She walked right over and rolled onto her back to have her belly rubbed. Hunter did his usual as well. People to bark at. He never hurts anyone just barks at them. However, I decided to pick him up and hold him while Maddi was getting rubbed. I just worried he would continue to bark and people don't like that. Eventually I put him on the ground and he went over to people. It was kind of nice because he usually just stays back and bark. He went up and wanted to smell and be pet. He still backs up away from people he doesn't know when they try to touch him but he is getting a lot better. The next couple of times we passed the people he kept trying to go over to the group. To me, that's a good sign. He wants to be petted and wants attention. I know that progress for abused dogs is slow but I am happy that he is becoming a happier, more trusting dog.

Later in the day
So I had to move some items from my tiny apartment to the garage I am renting. I locked the dogs up while I was moving things in and out. Hunter wouldn't stop barking so I had to put him in his crate which I don't like to do unless I have to. After we finished I let the dogs back out to roam the house while I went out to get food. I was only gone for an hour and twenty minutes. Hunter managed to tear up a box and poo on the floor while I was gone. He must love me because he always manages to find something to tear up or some kind of trouble to get into. I am thankful that he doesn't go through the trash though.
The Standarized First Post
Ok, so let's get started here. I have two beautiful red-headed tricolored corgis.
The first is Maddi. She is a little more than 6 years old. She was adopted from the South County Animal Shelter. I actually went looking at a completely different dog. I had told my boyfriend that I really wanted another corgi but this time I wanted a tricolor that loved car rides. I met Maddi at the shelter and it was love at first sight. She was sweet and loving. I had to wait about a week for no one to claim her. Turns out no one did and I got to bring her home and she has been mine ever since. She is definitely a daddy's girl even though she is with me most of the time. She sleeps by his side of the bed and loves him. She works for him. When we go the dog parks she is my trouble maker. She never starts trouble just manages to get in the thick of it. Maddi loves people though. She will roll over for anyone if they are willing to rub her belly. She is not an avid barker but will bark if she is exciting or other dogs are barking.
I got Hunter last October and its been a journey to say the least. I met his former owner at his home. Hunter and Maddi were an instant match. He is definitely a momma's boy too. I didn't know it when I pick him up but it didn't take me long to figure out he had been abused. I felt really bad. For quite some time I was unable to put my hand anywhere near his rump. My suspicion is that's where he was hit or whatever they did to him. I also suspect they ran him with a skateboard because he really can't stands them and tries to attack them. He has gotten a lot better but there is still more work to be done. When I leave he likes to chew things up, however, its kind of specific. He doesn't eat shoes but things that taste like food or are plastic. He is sometimes still scared of people and has a tendency to back up when they reach to pet him.
This is a picture of the two of them together :)
I felt like this would be a fun way of keeping track of their endeavors.
